Here is a quick tip that works very well and that will both expand your social network and give you relevant backlinks, at the same time. As you might know, backlinks are crucial for your site’s ranking in the search engines and having a large network with other webmasters is also very important, for your success, as it will help you in many ways.

Let’s say that you have created am e-book, a killer blog or some other service that you need some buzz around, or backlinks. Now, besides your usual promotion techniques, you also contact some bloggers and ask them if they would be willing to do a post about your new service. It can be a full review or just a blurb about your new service, that doesn’t matter much, the important thing is that you’d get a relevant backlink and in the process, you might make some new, interesting friends!

Here is how you’ll easily find blogs that are willing to write about your new service. First, do a list of keywords that are related to your service and then head over to blogcatalog.com and do a blog search, using those keywords, and suddenly you have a nice list of relevant blogs. Of course you could use any other blog directory out there, too. The main thing is to find blogs that are related to the service you would like to promote.

Once you have found a couple of blogs that you think, would be willing to write about your service, it’s time to contact the blog owner. When you contact the owner, be as personal as possible, to avoid looking like a mass generated message. Describe your new service or site briefly and be sure to include a link to it, and ask if they would be willing to write about it. You could also offer something in return or simply ask them what they want. If you have an affiliate program tied to your service, you could offer them a higher commission, than normal. Usually, if you have your own blog or site, you could offer to do a post or give them a link in return.

In every contact, be as polite as possible and respectfully accept a, no thanks. Also, be grateful to any kind of feedback that you might get, since it’s a free and excellent way of finding out what to improve, with your service. Don’t be shy, you’d be surprised on how many kind and creative bloggers there is out there, that is more than willing to help a fellow webmaster!
