I have made it to a routine to stop by Google labs, every now and then, to see what kind of wicked ideas their engineers have put together.
In case you never heard of Google Labs, it is a kind of a digital playground, where you can play around with new and innovative services, created by the creative minds at Google. Some ideas are rather good and useful, like the search tool Google Squared.
Google Squared is a tool that gathers information, about a topic that you specify, organizes it, presents it in a table, with items and attributes about your topic. Thereof the name squares.
What is cool is that you can customize those squares to contain just the information you would want to know.
Let us take an example. Imagine that you are on the hunt for antivirus software.
Usually you go to Google and search for it, then you spend a good amount of time, remembering the information you get by wading through the endless results.
If you use Google square, you get a readable table, organized in item name, an image and a description, etc. This gives you a much better overview of what type of software that is available, compared with a standard search. In addition, you can add new columns with more information, like system requirements, for our example.

You can tell Squared to put together all kind of information for you. You can also save and share your squares with others. Why now try it out yourself at, http://www.google.com/squared, its actually fun and you will most certainly be stuck there for a while!
